South Africa vs India (SAvIND): The 3rd ODI match of India tour of South Africa will be played between these two teams SA vs IND, the match will start at 02:00 PM IST on 23 January 2022 at Newlands, Cape Town
Team winner Prediction:
Key Points:
- South Africa has won the first two matches very comfortably
- India is going through a lot of pain as it rebuilds its team for the next World Cup
- To get better than 2x odds on South Africa to win is a great betting opportunity looking at the manner in which the two teams have played so far
SA vs IND Analysis:
South Africa has won the ODI series by winning the first two matches and it is a shame that these matches are not a part of the ODI Super League since that would have meant more of a reward for the South Africans. Now, with the series in the bag, they could actually look towards making a few changes and maybe trying out a few players that have not played so far.
India chose to stick with its same eleven that had lost the first match and it ended up losing the second one as well, quite comprehensively. The leadership from KL Rahul has been very docile and the inability to make quick changes could very well hurt team India in future series.
The cricket betting sites continue to tag India as the favorites although their odds seem to be equalizing a bit for both teams. Can there be a different result in this third and final match of the series?
Match Details:
Date: January 23, 2022
Time: 02:00 PM (IST)
Venue: Newlands, Cape Town
Live Streaming: Disney+ Hotstar
TV: Star Sports Network
Pitch and Weather Conditions:
The conditions have been more like what you get in India than in South Africa but that has not really made a difference to the results. The slow nature of the square suggests that another surface on which run-scoring is going to be a bit difficult is in store. The spinners in the middle are going to be key and it looks like that is where South Africa holds the biggest advantage right now.
A score of around 300 is certainly gettable and teams batting first will want at least 320 to be comfortable defending.
Team Preview:
South Africa (SA):
South Africa can be very proud of the manner in which it has won these two games. We think its score was a bit short of what was required in the first match but its bowling came to the fore. The second match was even more impressive as it chased down a score of near 290 with complete ease.
Every single batsman in the second ODI got some runs for South Africa. That shows the kind of superiority that the South African batters have enjoyed over the Indian bowling lineup. Quinton de Kock, Janneman Malan, Temba Bavuma, and Rassie van der Dussen have not looked in much trouble against the Indian bowlers during the series.
Only Aiden Markram seemed to be struggling a bit but he also recovered quite well by the end of his inning.
It is difficult to bet against the South African batting at the moment. From a betting point of view, it was interesting to note that South Africa hit fewer sixes than India but hit more fours.
South Africa’s bowling has not been the best and is actually missing its two best fast-bowlers (Rabada and Nortje) but it has still managed to pick up regular wickets through its spinners. Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi have been brilliant in the middle overs and they keep asking tough questions from the batsmen.
They will be full of confidence going into this final match and we don’t really see any reason why they would let up the pressure.
Likely XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), Jaaneman Malan, Aiden Markram, Rassi van der Dusen, Temba Bavuma (c), David Miller, Andile Phehlukwayo, Marco Jensen, Keshav Maharaj, Tabrez Shamsi, Lungi Ngidi

India (IND):
India has a lot of problems going into this match. Will it finally make a few changes and give some of its younger players a run in the team? We think it has no option. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar could very well see the end of his career as he is nowhere near the bowler that once could be relied upon to make an impact at all different stages of the inning.
Deepak Chahar is going to play in his place.
Ravi Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal have also been terrible during the middle overs but there is no other spinner in the squad and so both of them will retain their places. Shardul Thakur has been excellent with his lower-order batting and will probably keep his place as well. That leaves Jasprit Bumrah, easily the best bowler for India and so dropping him is of no use.
Now, the batting.
KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, and Virat Kohli are locked in. Rishab Pant is not going anywhere from the number four position after his 89 in the previous match. Venkatesh Iyer could get another chance since this is his debut series leaving Shreyas Iyer as the one to be sacrificed.
Suryakumar Yadav is likely to find a place in the team in his place for this match.
Even with these two changes, India’s bowling looks suspect. Their ability to take wickets in the middle overs is questionable. Similarly, the lack of batting conviction from Rahul, Kohli, and Iyer makes the batting very fragile.
A 3-0 drubbing could very well be on the way.
Likely XI: KL Rahul (Captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, Rishabh Pant, R Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Bhuvneshwar Kumar/Deepak Chahar, Yuzvendra Chahal,
