Football’s global body FIFA chief Gianni Infantino is likely to visit India next month. He can meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discuss the development of Indian football. This came to the fore during the All India Football Federation (AIFF) executive committee meeting held here on Monday.
Infantino is likely to visit India for the final leg of the Under-17 Women’s Football World Cup to be held in India from October 11-30. AIFF General Secretary Shaji Prabhakaran told that President Kalyan Choubey informed during the meeting that the FIFA President is likely to visit India and meet the Prime Minister.
It is expected that when the FIFA President meets PM Modi, some special announcements can also be made during this time. Choubey, the new president of AIFF, took the executive committee meeting for the second time.
Choubey, a former Mohun Bagan goalkeeper, defeated former India captain Bhaichung Bhutia 33-1 in the elections held on September 2. He is the first player to become the President of All India Football Association.
