Communal frenzy is spreading in Britain. After the Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan, there was a Hindu-Muslim riot in Lister near London and now there has been news of disturbance in Smethwick. A crowd of more than 200 people raised slogans of Allahu Akbar outside a temple in Smethwick yesterday.
According to media reports, the latest incident of sloganeering and disturbance took place at Durga Bhavan in West Midlands, Smethwick city of England. A section had organized a protest here. Videos of this incident are going viral on social media.
In these, the crowd can be heard shouting provoking slogans. At the same time, security personnel are seen stopping them. Some protesters even climb the temple wall.
The viral video shows a crowd of over 200 people marching towards the Durga Bhavan Hindu temple. During this, the crowd was heard shouting furious slogans.
According to the Birmingham World report, this incident is similar to the riots in Lister after the Asia Cup cricket between India and Pakistan. There was a huge ruckus in Lister and a Hindu temple was allegedly vandalised. During this Hindu-Muslim clashes took place.
Indian High Commission condemned the violence:
Following the Lister incident, the Indian High Commission in London strongly condemned the violence against the Indian community. The High Commission has demanded strict action from the administration of England against the culprits. So far 47 people have been arrested in the Lister riots case.
Meanwhile, Hindu-Muslims gathered on the steps of a mosque in Lister on Tuesday morning and issued a joint statement urging peace and harmony. He also called for stopping incitement and violence.
