Taking a big decision in the first cabinet meeting, the Yogi government of UP has extended the period of free ration scheme for three more months. This scheme will put a burden of Rs 3270 crore on the state exchequer. After this decision, 15 crore people of the state will continue to get benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Anna Yojana for the next three months.
Yogi Adityanath, who made a record by taking oath as the Chief Minister for the second consecutive time in UP, has taken a big decision in the cabinet meeting on the first day of his second term. The free ration scheme started during the Corona period has been extended for three more months. Earlier it was to continue till March 2022 only.
Addressing the media, the Chief Minister said that 80 crore poor of the country and 15 crore poor of the state are getting the benefit of this scheme. In our first cabinet meeting, it has been decided to extend this scheme further by three months. Under this scheme, along with food grains, pulses, salt, sugar and oil will also be given to the poor.
He said that this scheme would cost the state exchequer Rs 3270 crore. After this decision, 15 crore people of the state will continue to get benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Anna Yojana for the next three months.
Apart from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Brajesh Pathak, Cabinet Minister Swatantra Dev Singh were also present in the press conference. This is the first decision of the newly formed government.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took oath on Friday along with 52 cabinet ministers. BJP has got a thumping majority in the UP elections. A major reason for the victory in these elections is being told to the free ration scheme, keeping in mind that the government is in favor of continuing this scheme.
The state government is now working keeping in mind the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. It is expected that this scheme will continue till the 2024 elections.
The effect of this scheme has been that voters of every section of the state voted for the BJP and gave a mandate to come back to power.
Ration cards will be made for the garbage collectors and the homeless-
Ration cards will also be made for the people who pick up the garbage and the homeless in the state. For this, arrangements were made for registration on the web portal.
Additional Commissioner Food Anil Kumar Dubey said that such persons who do not have Aadhar card available due to lack of proper identity card, they are deprived of the important scheme of food distribution. Arrangements have been made to provide them ration cards.
In this regard, certificates containing photographs issued by Gazetted Officer or Tehsildar, President of recognized shelter homes or orphanages, Pramukh or Mukhiya of Gram Panchayat or his equivalent officer will also be valid as identity card.
