Team Analysis:
The two-time defending champions of the Big Bash League are going to be taking on the Melbourne Stars as the BBL 2021-22 season begins. The Sixers are the favorites to win the BBL title according to the cricket betting sites, however, there is a long way to go and those odds keep on changing.
The Melbourne Stars are definitely not a team that you want to take lightly and are right up there in terms of talent as well.

Team Preview:
Sydney Sixers (SYD):
The Sydney Sixers have a very well-settled lineup and there are not too many changes from the previous season. James Vince, Moises Henriques, Jordan Silk, and Josh Philippe form a strong batting lineup. We are tempted to bet on James Vince and Jordan Silk to score runs in this match. Vince has been in terrific form for England and in the Hundred competition while Silk just seems to be at his best whenever the BBL rolls around.
The bowling attack for the Sixers is also quite strong. Steve O’Keefe could take the new ball like he did last year while Dan Christian adds depth to the lineup by bowling regularly as well. Lloyd Pope is ‘X’ factor wrist-spinner and Jackson Bird or Ben Dwarshius can be tasked with picking wickets in the middle. Tom Curran also made quite a name for himself last season and is going to be a specialist death bowler.
The Sydney Sixers are a champion side and definitely ones to beat this season.
Likely XI: Daniel Hughes, Josh Phillipe (wk), James Vince, Moises Henriques (c), Jordan Silk, Dan Christian, Tom Curran, Chris Jordan, Ben Dwarshuis, Steve O’Keefe, Jackson Bird

Melbourne Stars (MLS):
The Melbourne Stars are going to be hoping to see the best of Marcus Stoinis this season. he has flourished as a finisher in the IPL and then for the Australian national team but he has had the most success for the Stars at the top of the order.
With Joe Burns and Joe Clarke in the squad, we think it is unlikely that Stoinis is going to open to start the BBL. Glenn Maxwell will be in the middle to set things up with support from Hilton Cartwright, Nick Larkin, or Clint Hinchcliffe.
The Stars have a very strong batting lineup for sure.
Among the bowlers, Adam Zampa is going to attract the most attention. he was phenomenal for Australia in the T20 World Cup and is just incredibly difficult to score off. With Billy Stanlake, Nathan Coulter-Nile, and Qais Ahmed, the Stars have a lot of options at their disposal as well.
Likely XI: Marcus Stoinis, Joe Clarke (wk), Nick Larkin, Glenn Maxwell (c), Joe Burns, Hilton Cartwright, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Adam Zampa, Liam Hatcher, Sam Rainbird, Billy Stanlake
