Team Preview:
Sydney Sixers (SYS):
With a record win in their first win, Sydney Sixers got off to the best possible start to the tournament. They have since then grown leaps and bounds and are now placed well to qualify for the next round. As it currently stands, they are placed at the top with six wins and one loss from seven matches. They have a total of 21 points to their name with a terrific net run rate of 1.264.
Sydney Sixers are coming off a win in a match that had plenty of ups and downs. Bowling first on a surface that had no visible demons, Sydney Sixers bowled in the tight channels and eventually restricted Heat to a total of just 105 runs. They had the game in their pocket at the halfway mark, but batting crumbled like a pack of cards. Just when the game looked all but over for them, Sean Abbott and Ben Dwarshius combined to get their side an important two-wicket win.
On paper, Sydney Sixers have an immaculately balanced side that has been in terrific touch so far. While their last match’s performance would be in their minds, they would want to consider that to be a one-off failure with the bat. Having said that, it also showed their depth with the bat, which can prove to be a crucial factor if things get tight.
All in all, Sydney Sixers are certainly the side to beat in the competition, especially given the way they have so far. They have almost all bases covered on paper, be it with the bat or with the ball. If they are able to play to their potential, they should be able to cruise to yet another win in the competition.
Likely XI: Josh Philippe, James Vince, Daniel Hughes, Moises Henriques, Jordan Silk, DT Christian, Sean Abbott, Hayden Kerr, Shadab Khan, Ben Dwarshuis, Lloyd Pope.

Melbourne Renegades (MLR):
Melbourne Renegades had a terrible run last year and their campaign this year isn’t turning out to be any different. They have already played six matches and are yet to show anything substantial in any of the two departments. A win here will certainly not be enough to bring their campaign back on track, but they would need that for start.
Unlike what was expected of them, Melbourne Renegades got off to a terrific start, beating Adelaide Strikers by a minuscule margin of two runs. However, they failed to keep that momentum up, losing five matches on the trot since then. As it currently stands, Melbourne Renegades are placed at the bottom of the points table with one win and five losses from six matches. Coupled with the bottom-most position, they have a poor net run rate of -1.758, which just shows how poor they have done in both the departments of the game.
Its not that the Renegades have a poor side on paper. They have a decent set of experienced players available in Aaron Finch, Nic Maddinson, Mohammad Nabi, and James Pattinson, but none of those have managed to consistently contribute to the Renegades’ cause. Also, their bowling looks a bit unidimensional, which has allowed the other teams to get them away once set. All in all, the Renegades have a lot of work to do going into the upcoming match and unless they are able to play out of their skins, it is difficult to see them making a big impact against the Sixers.
Likely XI: Sam Harper, Aaron Finch, Nic Maddinson, Mackenzie Harvey, Jake Fraser McGurk, Mohammad Nabi, Jack Prestwidge, James Pattinson, Kane Richardson, Reece Topley, Zahir Khan.
