Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Sixers (PRSvSYS): The 34th Match of KFC BBL 2021-22 will be played between these two teams PRS vs SYS, The match will begin on 04 January 2022 at 01:45 PM IST.
Key Points:
- Sydney Sixers have won three out of the previous four matches against Brisbane Heat
- Both teams have struggled with their batting but even here the Sydney Sixers have a bit of an edge
- We find the bowling attack of the Sixers to be far superior to that of Brisbane Heat
Team Analysis:
Brisbane Heat has been climbing up the Big Bash League standings but it faces a tough test against the team sitting at the top, the Sydney Sixers, in this next match. BBL 2021-22 has been quite closely fought so far with six teams fighting for five available BBL 2021-22 Playoff spots.
Brisbane Heat has won just three out of its eight matches so far but with all three of those wins coming in its previous six matches, the tide does seem to be turning a bit. The Sydney Sixers, on the other hand, have won six out of their eight matches (one of the remaining ones was a no-result) and have looked like one of the strongest teams in BBL 2021-22.

Match Details:
Date: January 04, 2022
Time: 01:45 PM (IST)
Venue: Carrara Oval, Queensland
Live Streaming: Sony LIV App
TV: Sony Sports Network
Pitch and Weather Conditions:
The conditions at the Carrara Oval are generally quite good for batting. The pitches in Queensland have a reputation for being hard, fast, and bouncy. This translates to a lot of runs being scored in T20 cricket. There is some rain forecast later in the week in Queensland but the current indications are for dry weather during this match.
We think something around 160-170 is going to be par for the venue.
Team Preview:
Perth Scorchers (PRS):
Brisbane Heat has struggled this season because of a lack of runs from its top-order. Only two of its batsmen have scored more than 200 runs collectively and only one more has more than 100 runs. This is just not good enough in a tournament like the Big Bash where the average scores have been quite high.
Sam Heazlett has been the best batsman of the entire tournament for Brisbane Heat with the most runs and the most sixes. However, it is Ben Duckett who has two fifty-plus scores as well as the most fours. This indicates that Ben Duckett is more likely to score big if gets set. Look for Over/Under betting markets on Duckett as you may have a better chance of winning.
Among the bowlers, it was encouraging to see Mujeeb ur Rahman pick up wickets after not having been too successful for the first seven matches. Mujeeb picked up three in the previous match which is 50% of his total wickets for the BBL 2021-22 season.
Xavier Bartlett has 11 wickets and is quite good with the new ball. He could be a good pick for the Top Bowler Brisbane Heat betting market.
Likely XI: Chris Lynn, Jimmy Peirson, Ben Duckett, Sam Heazlett, Max Bryant, Xavier Bartlett, James Bazley, Mark Steketee, Matt Kuhnemann, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Jack Wildermuth.

Sydney Sixers (SYS):
The Sydney Sixers have perhaps not been at their best this season so far but they still continue to find ways of winning. That is something that would scare its opponents. The batting form of Philippe and Henriques has covered up for a lot of weaknesses that the Sydney Sixers have shown. For one thing, the rest of the batting lineup has just not been able to get going. James Vince comes in a distant third and even he does not have a single fifty-plus score to his name.
The Sixers were saved by Ben Dwarshius and Sean Abbott in the previous match while chasing just 106. It shows that they are not as infallible as the betting odds sometimes suggest them to be. Of course, the names are there on paper but we do think this Sixers team is quite beatable.
The bowling attack has done quite well led by the always consistent Sean Abbott. 12 wickets to his name have meant that he is the leading wicket-taker for the Sydney Sixers in this season. We are not going to be betting against him this match either. The odds on him to the Top Bowler Sydney Sixers are a bit short but the other alternatives are not really standing out to us right now.
Likely XI: Josh Philippe, James Vince, Moises Henriques, Daniel Hughes, Jordan Silk, DT Christian, Sean Abbott, Hayden Kerr, Shadab Khan, Ben Dwarshuis, Steve O’Keefe.
