Team Analysis:
The Melbourne Stars have been knocked out of the running for the BBL playoffs and this match is of no particular significance to them. The Hobart Hurricanes, the other team in this contest, has qualified for the BBL 201-22 playoffs thanks to a narrow win against the Melbourne renegades in their previous match. They would like to get some winning momentum on their side before entering into the most crucial phase of the tournament.

Pitch and Weather Conditions:
The conditions in Melbourne have been forecast to be sunny and excellent for cricket all throughout the match day. This is going to be the third match being played at the MCG in succession and so it is understandable if the pitch holds up a bit by the time this match comes around. We could see the ball stopping and spin playing a much larger role than in previous matches.
This could affect the number of sixes hit as well as the total scores that are reached.
Team Preview:
Melbourne Stars (MLS):
The Melbourne Stars won their previous match against Brisbane Heat in style. They needed to win that match with as big a margin as possible and they managed to do so. of course, they also needed the Hurricanes to lose against the Renegades but that did not happen.
The Melbourne Stars displayed their batting might in the previous match. Joe Clarke, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, and Hilton Cartwright all played very well. Not only did each one of them score runs but they also managed to do so at a fast clip. The question now is whether we can expect a similar kind of performance without the incentive to qualify there? We have seen teams lose motivation after getting knocked out and the same could happen to the Melbourne Stars.
The Stars also used their bowling resources quite well. They opened the batting with Adam Zampa and attacked from the beginning. Glenn Maxwell used himself at the right time and picked up two wickets as well. With Coulter-Nile also back in the lineup, the Melbourne Stars have the depth in the bowling lineup to trouble the Hobart Hurricanes.
Likely XI: Marcus Stoinis, Hilton Cartwright, Glenn Maxwell, Joe Clarke, BJ Webster, Joe Burns, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Ahmed Daniyal, Sam Rainbird, Adam Zampa, Brody Couch.

Hobart Hurricanes (HBH):
The Hobart Hurricanes scored 182 against the Melbourne renegades and then managed to defend that by a pretty small margin of six runs. Still, that win was enough to get it through and we don’t think the Hurricanes are going to mind how it happened!
The batting lineup of the Hobart Hurricanes is as good as any other team in the BBL. Ben McDermott, arguably the batsmen of BBL 2021-22, just scored three runs and the Hobart Hurricanes still managed to reach 182. Matthew Wade, Caleb Jewell, and Darcy Short are all in good form while Peter Handscomb and Tim David add power.
With four sixes in the previous match, Tim David showed just how dangerous he is and we think it is just a matter of time before he is playing in Australian colors as the designated finisher in white-ball cricket.
Thomas Rogers continues to pick up wickets in most matches he plays and is the highest wicket-taker for the Hobart Hurricanes in this edition of the Big Bash. Sandeep Lamichhane is also in good form and with Riley Meredith in the lineup, the Hobart Hurricanes are just as strong as the Melbourne Stars in the bowling department as well.
Likely XI: Ben McDermott, Josh Kann, Matthew Wade, D’Arcy Short, Tim David, Caleb Jewell, Peter Handscomb, Jordan Thompson, Thomas Rogers, Riley Meredith, Sandeep Lamichhane.
