Key Points:

  • BJamaica Tallawahs scored 255 runs in their previous match and are a much more powerful batting side than the Barbados Royals
  • Barbados Royals has lost all of its matches in CPL 2021 so far
  • More depth and power in the batting plus a bowling attack that is versatile give the Jamaica Tallawahs the advantage here

JT vs BR Analysis:

The Jamaica Tallawahs laid down a warning for every other team in CPL 2021 after it won its first match by 120 runs. That match was an exhibition in power-hitting and showed just what the Tallawahs are capable of when everything goes right. They will now be taking on the Barbados Royals who have already lost their opening two matches of the season and seem to be struggling.

On the face of it, this contest looks pretty one-sided but we are sure there are plenty of great betting opportunities to explore.

Match Details:

Date: August 29, 2021
Time: 12:00 AM (IST)
Venue: Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts
Live Streaming: FanCode App

Pitch and Weather Conditions:

The nature of the pitch has definitely improved from what we first saw. The ball is now coming on to the bat better and while there is still a lack of pace, the batsmen are able to make the most of some very short straight boundaries. There are a lot of sixes to be had in most matches but you may want to factor in a poor batting performance from the Barbados Royals once more.

A score of around 160 seems to be par for the surface.

Probably XI:

Jamaica Tallawahs:

The Jamaica Tallawahs scored 255 in the previous match, an unbelievable score, but it was interesting to note that the highest score was just 50 not out! All the batsmen got in and played at a very high strike rate before the next one came in and continued to do the same.

There were 17 sixes hit in the inning, easily more than twice of the next best such effort this season. Kennar Lewis, Andre Russell, Chadwick Walton, Haider Ali, and Rovman Powell all got runs. This is a very powerful batting lineup that will be confident and in a great frame of mind.

The bowlers did not have to do much as the opposition had to take a tremendous amount of risk from the very start. Migael Pretorius and Imran Khan were the pick of the bowlers but it was heartening to see Andre Russell bowl as well.

If Russell can continue being fit then he is going to be a factor in every single match that he plays.

Likely XI: K Lewis, CAK Walton, Haider Ali, Rovman Powell, Shamarh Brooks, Andre Russell, Carlos Brathwaite, Christopher Green, Migael Pretorius, Veerasammy Permaul, Imran Khan.

Please check the team once when Playing XI Announced.

Barbados Royals:

The Barbados Royals face a mountain to climb in this match. They are up against a team that has scored 255 in the previous match but its own batting has probably been the weakest so far. We just don’t have too much confidence in this lineup that has a few good players but seems to be lacking the depth and power to compete against most of the other teams in CPL 2021.

The same problem is running through its bowling lineup. Mohammad Amir managed to pick up three early wickets in the previous match against the Trinbago Knight Riders but just did not have enough support at the other end. Oshane Thomas was good but the batsmen played him out and attacked the rest. We thought not bowling Hayden Walsh just because Pollard is at the crease was a bit of a mistake even though he could have gone for some runs.

The Barbados Royals are unsettled and unsure right now. Not the best place to be in when you are taking on the Jamaica Tallawahs.

Likely XI: Shai Hope, Azam Khan, GD Phillips, Johnson Charles, Kyle Mayers, Jason Holder, Thisara Perera, Ashley Nurse, Hayden Walsh, Mohammad Amir, Oshane Thomas.

Please check the team once when Playing XI Announced.
