Hitman Rohit Sharma struggled brilliantly in the second innings and scored 59 runs off 156 balls, but he was dismissed leg before by Robinson. Shami got caught by Kohli for 29 runs while Jos Buttler was caught by Ishant Sharma for 7.
Captain Joe Root was dismissed for 121 by Bumrah while Moeen Ali became the victim of Ravindra Jadeja after scoring 8 runs. Sam Curran was dismissed by Siraj for 15 runs. Shami to Overton for 32 while Robinson became the victim of Bumrah without opening the account. For India, Shami took four wickets while Bumrah, Siraj and Jadeja took two wickets each.
India’s first innings, flop show of batsmen
Hardly anyone had any idea of the way Indian batting fell apart in the first innings of Headingley Test. No batsman was able to play a big innings for the team and Rohit Sharma 19 while Ajinkya Rahane played the biggest innings of 18 runs. Apart from these, other batsmen of Team India could not even reach double figures. KL Rahul zero, Pujara one run, Captain Kohli 7 runs, Rishabh Pant 2 runs, Jadeja 4 runs, Shami zero, Ishant Sharma 8 runs (not out), Bumrah 0 runs and Mohd. Siraj played an innings of 3 runs. England bowlers bowled very disciplined and James Anderson and Craig Overton took three each while Robinson and Sam Curran got two successes each. The fast bowlers took all the wickets of India.
