The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will now be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman instead of India. The tournament will start from October 17 and the final match will be played on November 14. This tournament was to be organized in India this year, but due to the Kovid-19 epidemic, this decision was taken. However, BCCI will host this event and all matches of the tournament will be held at Dubai International Stadium, Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah Stadium and Oman Cricket Ground.

The first round of the tournament, consisting of eight qualifying teams, will now be split between Oman and the UAE. Four of these teams will then advance to the Super 12 round where the eight teams that have already qualified are present. The next season of the T20 World Cup will be the first men’s T20 World Cup to be played since 2016, when West Indies defeated England in the final in India. Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Namibia, Oman and Papua New Guinea are among the teams that will face each other in the preliminary round before the playoff stage in this tournament.

After the announcement of the transfer of this tournament from India, ICC CEO Geoff Allardyce said that, our priority is to organize the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 in a safe manner. We are very disappointed to not be able to organize it in India. Keeping in view the safety of the players in the current situation, we need to get it done in a country which is completely safe. We will work closely with the BCCI, Emirates Cricket Board and Oman Cricket to ensure that fans can fully enjoy this wonderful celebration of cricket.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said that BCCI is looking forward to hosting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 tournament in UAE and Oman. We would have been more than happy to host it in India but given the COVID-19 situation and the importance of the World Championship event, BCCI will now continue to host the tournament in the UAE and Oman.
