India vs New Zealand 1st T20: The Indian team has landed in the first T20 match against New Zealand at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Indian team captain Rohit Sharma has won the toss and decided to bowl against New Zealand. Venkatesh Iyer has got a chance to debut in this match. Martin Guptill and Mark Chapman scored half-centuries as New Zealand posted 164 for 6. India chased down the target in 19.4 overs to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Suryakumar, who played an innings of 62 runs, was adjudged the player of the match.

India’s innings, Suryakumar’s half-century-

Chasing the target, India’s opening pair of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma made a stormy start. Both scored 50 runs in the first 5 overs, scoring at the rate of 10 runs per over. After 15 runs, Rahul gave his catch to Chapman off Santner’s ball. By the end of the half-innings, India had scored 85 runs for the loss of 1 wicket. Captain Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Trent Boult after playing an innings of 48 runs off 36 balls.

Suryakumar completed his third T20I half-century off 34 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Suryakumar was bowled on the score of 62 runs in an attempt to hit a big shot on the ball of Bolt. Shreyas Iyer was dismissed for 5 runs by Southee. After this, Venkatesh, making his debut, stepped on the ground, hit a four on the first ball and then lost his wicket trying to hit the wicket. Rishabh Pant gave India victory by hitting a four in 19.4 overs.

New Zealand’s batting, Chapman-Guptill’s half-century-

The Kiwi team, who came out to bat after losing the toss against India, had a poor start. Darryl Mitchell was clean bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the third ball of the first over. After playing 3 balls, he had to return without opening the account. In the powerplay, New Zealand team scored 41 runs for the loss of 1 wicket. Chapman along with Guptill handled the innings. He completed his second half-century in T20 Internationals, hitting four fours and two sixes in 45 balls.

Ashwin sent Chapman back after bowling him for 63 runs. Soon after, he dismissed Glenn Phillips lbw. Guptill was dismissed after playing an innings of 70 runs off 42 balls off Deepak Chahar. Shreyas Iyer caught his catch. Tim Seifert made 12 runs off Bhuvneshwar Kumar and gave the ball to Suryakumar Yadav. The team lost its sixth wicket in the form of Rachit Ravindra.

Bhuvneshwar and Ashwin took two wickets each in this match for India. Chahar and Siraj dismissed one batsman each.

In this match, there is a change in the playing XI of the Indian team playing the T20 World Cup. Shreyas Iyer, Mohammad Siraj and Deepak Chahar have returned. Venkatesh Iyer, who has batted brilliantly in the Indian Premier League, has got a chance to debut.

With this series, a new era of Indian cricket is going to start. Rahul Dravid will take over as the head coach of the team and Rohit will be the regular T20 captain. Virat Kohli has been rested in this series while Kane Williamson has decided not to play T20 matches.
