The second match of the three-match T20 series between India and Sri Lanka was to be played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo from 8 pm on Tuesday, but just before this match, Team India’s spin all-rounder Krunal Pandya was found positive in the Kovid Test and on Tuesday. This match was cancelled. Later it was said by BCCI that, now the second match will be played on 28th July i.e. on Wednesday, but whether this match will be held on Wednesday or not remains suspense.
Now a senior BCCI official told PTI on the condition of not making his identity public that, Krunal Pandya has been found positive in the Kovid test and today’s match has been cancelled. At the same time, he said that now the report of RT-PCR test of other Indian players is awaited. If all the players are found clear in this then only the second match will be organized on Wednesday. That is, one thing becomes clear here that, if any other player comes positive, then the second match will not be organized. The medical team has clarified that Krunal Pandya was in close contact with eight players. Eight players who were in contact with him have been isolated.
It has been said from the BCCI that the second match will now be played on Wednesday and the third match will be played on 29 July i.e. Thursday. At the same time, the question arises that, if any player other than Krunal is found positive, then perhaps the match of 28 will be cancelled. When the match of 28 is cancelled, then how will the match of 29 be made, that is the big question. On the other hand, if Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav are also affected, then how will they be able to go for the Test series on the England tour.
