India’s fast bowler and vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah created history on the second day of the Bangalore Test. He has taken 5 wickets for the first time on Indian soil. This is also the best performance by an Indian fast bowler against Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka’s first innings was reduced to 109 runs in the second match being played between India and Sri Lanka. This is Sri Lanka’s second lowest score against India. For India, Jasprit Bumrah took 5 wickets while bowling brilliantly. He dismissed Sri Lankan batsmen Kusal Mendis, Lahiru Thirimanne, Angelo Mathews, Niroshan Dickwella and Lasith Embuldeniya.
This is the first time on Indian soil when Bumrah has taken 5 wickets. Not only this, this is the best performance by Indian fast bowlers against Sri Lanka. Bumrah bowled 10 overs in this match and took 5 wickets for just 24 runs. Earlier, Ishant Sharma took 5 for 54 against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2015.
Why is this achievement of Bumrah big?
It is often seen that spin bowlers get more help in Day-Night Test matches. India is playing this third day-night test match on its soil. The team played the last Day Night Test match against England in Ahmedabad. The spin bowlers took 19 wickets in that match. Akshar Patel had 11, Ashwin 7 and Washington Sundar 1 success.
