Sri Lankan team’s troubles are not taking the name of lessening. Ahead of the second T20, the team has suffered another setback and its spin bowler Mahesh Teeksha has been ruled out of the T20 series due to a hamstring injury.
Let us tell you that Sri Lanka’s star spinner Vanindu Hasaranga has already been ruled out of the series. He had to be out due to Corona.
Not only this, Kushal Mendis is also suffering from hamstring problem, although Sri Lanka hope that he will be available for the Test match. Fast bowler Shiran Fernando, who is in the squad and is yet to make his international debut, has already been ruled out of the T20I series due to injury.
However, there is a good news for Sri Lanka that seamer Binura Fernando, who was found to be Kovid in Australia. He has resumed practice and will be available for the two T20Is to be played in Dharamsala.
Mendis could make a comeback till the third T20I but won’t take the risk of including him if Sri Lanka want to keep him for the Test match. The Test match will start from March 4 in Mohali.
Mendis hasn’t played a Test match since January last year but has been in better form since returning to cricket from a six-month ban for breaching Covid protocol. He was also made the player of the match in the 5th match against Australia.
Teekshana’s exit is also a big setback for the Sri Lankan team as she has bowled brilliantly in pawplay for the last 6 months. Sri Lanka lost the first match against India by 62 runs while the second and third matches will be held in Dharamsala on February 26 and 27. In the first match, Sri Lanka’s bowling looked helpless in front of the Indian batsmen.
