The matches between the teams of India and Pakistan are now seen only in the ICC tournament. After a long time, once again both the teams will face each other on the cricket field. The names of the field umpire and TV umpire who played the biggest responsibility in this match have come to the fore. The ICC T20 World Cup, to be played from October 17 to November 14, is to be held in the UAE.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday announced the appointment of 20 match officials for the Round One and Super 12 phases of the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup, with Nitin Menon being the only Indian among match umpires. Veteran South African umpires Marais Erasmus and England’s Chris Gaffaney will be the two on-field umpires for the October 24 match between India and Pakistan, while Richard Illingworth will be the TV umpire. David Boon will be the match referee.

Earlier, there was a match between the teams of India and Pakistan in the ODI World Cup played in 2019. Team India scored 336 runs for 5 wickets in this match played in Manchester, England. Rohit Sharma scored 140 runs while captain Virat Kohli scored 77 runs. India had achieved a big victory of 89 runs here. The last time both the teams played in T20 was during the World Cup in Kolkata in 2016. India won the match by 6 wickets.
16 umpires and four match referees have been selected for the T20 World Cup. The 45-match tournament will have three umpires (Aleem Dar, Erasmus and Rod Tucker) who will be officials in their sixth men’s T20 World Cup. Former India pacer Javagal Srinath is also among the four match referees for the tournament which runs from October 17 to November 14 in Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
Match officials for the semi-finals and final will be announced in the coming days. According to the ICC, the 20-strong group of match officials means there will be neutral umpires for all matches of the tournament for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
