Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has praised Rohit Sharma for being able to lead teams with great efficiency. Rohit Sharma’s fortunes in cricket changed in 2013 when he replaced Ricky Ponting as the captain of Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.
This was the same year when he made his opening batting debut for Team India at the highest level. Eight years later, Nagpur-born Rohit is the most successful captain in IPL history, having won five titles, although MI failed to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2021.
Tendulkar admitted that apart from his ability to lead, Rohit’s ability to maintain his composure in difficult situations is what sets him apart from the rest.
Talking to Hindustan Times, Sachin said that whatever conversation I have had with Rohit, he has a very smart cricketing mind and does not panic. From what I saw it is fully capable of withstanding the pressure. This is important when you are leading a team.
Tendulkar said that, Rohit has hardly let his team down and has been able to take the right decisions at the right time during his stint with the Mumbai-based franchise. One of the four players that Mumbai has retained before the mega auction of IPL 2022 is Rohit Sharma and it is worth noting. There are many things that a captain has to take care of. If you are in a position when the team is looking at you, it is important that the captain stays calm and acts and that is what I have seen in Rohit during my time at Mumbai Indians.
