Captain Mithali Raj’s third consecutive half-century helped Indian women register a win against England in the third ODI on Saturday. The Indian women’s cricket team defeated hosts England by four wickets in the last ODI match. However, despite this defeat, England managed to win the series 2-1 as the first two matches of the series were won by the hosts.

The match was reduced to 47 overs per innings due to rain. In this match, England, batting first, got piled up after scoring 219 runs in the last ball. Skiver scored the highest 49 runs for him, while captain Heather Knight scored 46 runs. For India, Deepti Sharma took three wickets for 47 runs. The England team had to bow down in front of the brilliant bowling.

However, the Indian team also had to work hard till the last over to register a win. India won this match of 47 overs by scoring 220 runs for six wickets in 46.3 overs. Captain Mithali Raj scored an unbeaten 75 off 86 balls with the help of eight fours. Apart from him, Smriti Mandhana also played an innings of 49 runs. All-rounder Sneh Rana scored 24 crucial runs. 18 runs came off Deepti Sharma’s bat.

Mithali’s record

Indian captain Mithali Raj has become the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket. She left behind former England captain Charlotte Edward. 38-year-old Mithali Raj now has 10337 runs in international cricket. Edward holds the record of scoring 10273 runs in all three formats of cricket. New Zealand’s Suzy Bates is at the third position in this list with 7849 runs. It may take years for them to achieve this feat.

Let us inform that Mithali Raj was injured after batting in the second match, but in the very next match, she made a comeback and hit a strong half-century and saved the team from a clean sweep. In the second match of the series, it was done by captain Harmanpreet Kaur at the time of fielding.
