The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the schedule of the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League 2021 (IPL 2021). The second leg of the tournament will begin on September 19 with a blockbuster match between defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Dubai. Let us inform that in early May, the 14th edition of the tournament had to be postponed due to Corona. The tournament started in India on 9 April, but had to be postponed after 29 matches on 4 May due to some players and support staff being found infected. Now the remaining matches will be held in the UAE.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Abu Dhabi on the next day of the match between Mumbai and CAK. Sharjah will host its first match on September 24, which will be between RCB and CSK. A total of 31 matches will be played in the second phase over a period of 27 days. A total of 13 matches will be held in Dubai, 10 in Sharjah and 8 in Abu Dhabi. During this there will be 7 double header matches. There will be a total of 12 double header matches in this season. Five of these have already happened in India.
The afternoon matches will start at 3.30 pm IST. All evening matches will start at 7:30 PM IST. The final match of the league stage will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals on 8 October. Qualifier-1 will be played on October 10. The Eliminator will be played on October 11 and Qualifier 2 will be played on October 13. The final is to be played on October 15.
Shah went to UAE last week:
Last week, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah visited the UAE. During this he met Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan and Khalid Al Zarooni, the UAE Ministers for Tolerance and Coexistence. The BCCI secretary had also posted pictures of the meeting on Twitter.
Tournament to be held before T20 World Cup:
The 14th edition of IPL will be held in UAE. BCCI is confident that maximum foreign players will be available for this tournament to be played just before the start of T20 World Cup. The dates of this year’s CPL T20 tournament have been changed after discussions between BCCI, Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) in view of IPL. The CPL will now start from 26 August and end on 15 September.
