In the 14th season of the Indian Premier League, something is going to happen which has never happened before today. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that the last two matches of this season will be played simultaneously on the same day. Both these matches will start on October 8 at 7.30 pm.
Giving information about this, a statement was issued by the BCCI. The statement said, “The match to be played at noon on October 8, 2021, on the day of the last league match of the current ongoing season, will be held in the evening, instead of one afternoon and one evening match, both matches will be played simultaneously in the evening. It will be done from 7:30.
On October 8, the names of the four teams between which these two matches will be played at the same time are according to the pre-decided schedule. The timing of the first match has been changed. One match is to be played after Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad. The second match will be between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals. According to the schedule, the 55th match of this season was to be played at 3.30 pm and after that the 56th match was to start at 7.30 pm. Now both these matches will start simultaneously.
It has also been informed in this press release that the tender for media rights from 2023 to 2027 will be issued immediately after the announcement of two new IPL teams. The teams are to be announced on October 25.
