CSK vs KKR IPL 2021 Match Report: The 38th league match of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL was played between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi. In this match, Kolkata set a target of 172 runs for victory in front of Chennai, which Chennai achieved by losing 8 wickets in the last ball of the last over and won the match by 2 wickets. With this, the team of Chennai has become the second team to score 16 points in the points table.

In this match, Kolkata captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and elected to bat first and in the allotted 20 overs, KKR scored 171 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. In this way, Kolkata set a target of 172 runs for victory in front of Chennai. Nitish Rana remained unbeaten on 37 off 27 balls. At the same time, Faf du Plessis, Rituraj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja batted brilliantly for Chennai in reply to 172 runs. Jadeja turned the match in the last four balls of the 19th over by hitting two sixes and two fours.

Chennai innings, got a good start:

Chasing the target of 172 runs, Chennai’s team got off to a good start by Rituraj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis. The duo added 52 runs in 6 overs of powerplay without losing a wicket. The first wicket took CSK on a total of 76 runs when Rituraj Gaikwad scored 40 runs in 28 balls and was caught by Morgan at the hands of Andre Russell.

CSK’s second blow came in the form of Faf du Plessis, who scored 43 runs in 30 balls, caught by Lucky Ferguson off the famous Krishna. Chennai Super Kings’ third wicket came on a total of 119 runs when Ambati Rayudu was clean bowled by Sunil Narine after scoring 10 runs. Moeen Ali returned to the pavilion as the fourth wicket. He scored 32 runs in 28 balls and he became the victim of Lucky Ferguson.

Chennai’s fifth wicket fell as a run out, when Suresh Raina returned to the pavilion after scoring 11 runs. Varun Chakraborty made Dhoni his victim and got the sixth wicket for KKR. Dhoni could score 1 run. Chakraborty bowled him. Jadeja was dismissed for 22 runs in 8 balls.

Kolkata innings, 6 wickets fell:

After winning the toss, Kolkata team got the first blow on the total score of 10 runs when Shubman Gill was run out on 9 runs due to Ambati Rayudu’s throw. CSK got the second success by Shardul Thakur. He got Venkatesh Iyer caught by Dhoni at the personal score of 18 runs. The third blow to KKR came in the form of captain Eoin Morgan, who became the victim of Josh Hazlewood after scoring 8 runs in 14 balls. His catch was caught by Faf du Plessis.

KKR’s fourth wicket fell in the form of Rahul Tripathi. Tripathi was clean bowled by Ravindra Jadeja on a personal score of 45 runs. The fifth wicket fell in the form of Andre Russell who got bowled after scoring 20 runs off Shardul Thakur. The sixth wicket fell as KKR’s Dinesh Karthik, who scored 26 runs in 11 balls, was caught by Dhoni at the bowling of Josh Hazlewood.

There has been no change in Kolkata’s team for this match, while one change has been seen in Chennai. Sam Curran has been named in place of Dwayne Bravo. CSK captain MS Dhoni has revealed that he has been rested to manage the workload of Dwayne Bravo as he returns from the CPL.

Venkatesh Iyer, Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana, Eoin Morgan (capt), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Lucky Ferguson, Varun Chakravarthy and Pranbhav Krishna.

Chennai is currently at the second position in the points table, while Kolkata’s team is at the fourth position. Chennai Super Kings have won 7 out of their 9 matches, while Kolkata has won only 4 matches in the same number of matches. In such a situation, where Kolkata has a chance to improve its position. At the same time, Chennai Super Kings would like to present their claim for the playoffs. If CSK wins this match, then the team will have 16 points in their account and thus the team will come close to reaching the playoffs.
