IPL 2022: CSK vs KKR Match Report- The 15th season of IPL began with the match between CSK and KKR at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. CSK set a target of 132 runs for KKR to win.
Umesh Yadav | Player of the Match | 4-0-20-2: Receiving it after 2 years and I am very happy with the performance. I haven’t played white ball cricket for a while and thank you to the head coach and the captain for trusting me and letting me know that I am going to be in the starting eleven. I am really working on my rhythm because after playing a lot of Tests, the rhythm is such that when you have to start you have to get into the right areas to get swing. As a fast bowler and an outswinger, you always enjoy taking wickets in the first over and that helps build pressure. Usually, I take my own training and work ethic and feel really good
Shreyas Iyer | KKR Captain: There is always tension when MS Dhoni is batting. I knew the pace was about to shift towards them with the dew all around. It was difficult to catch the ball. Enjoying the new franchise. The CEO, management, support staff have been excellent. Just need to keep up the pace. It was more spongy than we imagined. This is where I like to play. I grew up here. I thought it would be flat. It was very easy for me with the bowling line-up I had. Umesh has worked hard in the nets and has done well in practice games as well. Really glad to see his performance today.
Sheldon Jackson, KKR Keeper- Batsman: Initially I was nervous, but the management and coaching staff are fantastic. He helped me calm down, he supported me and I am very grateful to him. He (MS Dhoni) has always been my inspiration. I always looked up to him and I try to imitate everything he says and I have a lot to see and learn from him. Learning a lot (on playing helicopter shots) and actually getting a lot out of them (MSD).
Ravindra Jadeja, CSK Captain: Dew will be an important part in this edition. If you win the toss, you will try to bowl first. The wicket was a bit damp in the first 6-7 overs and then came to the end of the innings. We were trying to deepen the game. Looking at the dew, everyone bowled well. Bravo bowled well.

Umesh Yadav:
It’s a fresh wicket and the ball is gripping and there is bounce and swing as well, there is help for pace and spin as well. Last year I just played only 2 games and always feels nice to play and do well for the team. Got wickets in the powerplay, so I am very happy. If you look at my IPL record, I have the capability to take wickets in the powerplay and I also swing the new ball as well and as a fast bowler, I would love to lead the team and pick as many wickets in the powerplay. The ball is gripping and they also have good spinners in Jadeja and Santner, so let’s see and hope for the best (during the chase).

CSK’s innings, MS Dhoni’s half-century:
MS Dhoni played an unbeaten 50 off 38 balls in the first match of this season with the help of one six and 7 fours, while captain Jadeja remained unbeaten on 26 runs.
CSK did not have a good start and Rituraj Gaikwad was caught by Nitish Rana on the ball of Umesh Yadav without opening the account. The second wicket of this team fell in the form of Kanve and he was caught on the ball of Umesh Yadav after scoring 3 runs.
Robin Uthappa scored 28 runs for the team and was stumped, while Ambati Rayudu was run out after scoring 15 runs. Shivam Dube also could not play a good innings for the team and scored 3 runs and was caught by Sunil Narine on Russell’s ball.
CSK playing XI:
Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Kanve, Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja (c), Shivam Dubey, MS Dhoni (wk), Dwayne Bravo, Mitchell Santner, Adam Milne, Tushar Deshpande.
KKR playing XI:
Venkatesh Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer (c), Nitish Rana, Sam Billings (wk), Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Sheldon Jackson, Umesh Yadav, Shivam Mavi, Varun Chakraborty.
Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium has been very good for CSK in the last season where this team won four out of five matches, while KKR have played a total of 11 matches at this stadium, out of which they have lost 10 matches. On the other hand, if we talk about the matches of both the teams in IPL, CSK has won 17 matches against KKR, while KKR has won 8 matches against CSK so far. That is, in statistics, CSK seems to be completely dominating KKR.
