Delhi vs Mumbai, 2nd Match Live: In the second league match of IPL 2022, a match is being played between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians at Brabourne Stadium. In this match, Delhi captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Kuldeep Yadav | Player of the Match: It was a difficult time for me. I was out for five months due to injury. It was important for me to go into rehab and thanks to the facilities and trainers at NCA, I recovered very well and got back in the Indian set up. And gradually I started preparing for the match and when I started playing the game, I gained confidence and Rohit inspired me a lot. I spoke to him about any changes that needed to be made. And here in Delhi I spoke to Ricky (Ponting) and he supported me a lot. I have lacked pace for a long time and have worked hard on my rhythm and never compromised on turning the ball despite the change in pace.
Rishabh Pant | WINNING CAPTAIN: After losing the wicket with us in our mind, we thought it was gone, but we just kept on believing. We tried to focus on controllables. We knew we didn’t have much manpower because of Mitch Marsh and Warner not being here. But we wanted to use what we had. This is one of the best mantras of Kuldeep in a long time. He was just giving his all in the nets and during practice. It is important not to get complacent after just one match.
Tim Seifert: Everything is good. Great way to start a campaign for me and the team. It was entertaining (sports), T20 cricket. We showed courage to fight. Sometimes you have to take the mitts out. It was good to see his back (on Pollard’s catch) early on. We are here for a week. It was excellent. The cricket we are talking about (with Ponting) has been fantastic. Looking forward to the next few months with him.
Rohit Sharma | Losing Captain: I thought it was a good score. It didn’t look like a pitch where you can get 170+ in the beginning but we played in the middle and ended well. Just didn’t bowl according to our plan. Never talked (worst way to win the first game). We always come prepared whether it is the first game or the last game. We want to win every match. Things didn’t go according to plan but it could happen. Just need to stay close and learn as a group. I am disappointed with the defeat but not with the ending.
Batting first, Mumbai scored 177 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs on the back of Ishan Kishan’s unbeaten 81. Delhi had to score 178 runs to win and Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel gave their team a four-wicket victory on the basis of excellent batting. Delhi team scored 179 runs for 6 wickets in 18.2 overs.
Delhi’s innings, Lalit Yadav played an unbeaten 48-run innings:
Tim Seifert, who was batting in a dangerous manner for Delhi, was bowled by Murugan Ashwin for 21 runs, while Ashwin showed the way to the pavilion without opening the account to Mandeep Singh in his same over.
Captain Rishabh Pant was caught by Mills for one run. Prithvi Sha gave his catch to Ishan Kishan on the ball of Basil Thampi for 38 runs. Basil Thampi gave Delhi’s fifth blow and got Rovman Powell caught for zero.
Shardul Thakur was caught by Basil Thampi for 22 runs. After this, Lalit Yadav scored an unbeaten 48 while Axar Patel scored an unbeaten 38 to give his team victory. Akshar Patel scored 38 not out off 17 balls with the help of 3 sixes and 2 fours.

I am very happy. I was tall I am working really hard and talking to Ricky Ponting. Even before this I have spoken to Rohit bhai. I haven’t changed much in my bowling. The difference in pace was because I was in a good rhythm. Rohit’s wicket was very important. Even Pollard’s wicket was crucial as he was dismissed with four overs to spare. Good wicket. I was changing my length because I knew the batsmen could easily get out and play here.
