BCCI seems committed that IPL 2022 should be organized in India itself. However, in view of the Covid 19 epidemic, the board has decided to organize league matches and play-off matches in Maharashtra and Ahmedabad.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to organize the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Maharashtra and Ahmedabad. While the league stage matches will be played in Maharashtra, the play-off matches will be organized in Ahmedabad. Let us tell you that due to the Kovid 19 epidemic, IPL 2020 was organized in UAE, while 31 matches of IPL 2021 were also held there.
There is also a plan to organize IPL 2022 this time behind closed doors i.e. without spectators. Earlier, Sachin Jay Shah of BCCI had confirmed that IPL 2022 will start from the last week of March and will be played till the end of May. Now Times of India quoted a source as saying that the BCCI is currently contemplating to organize the league stage in Maharashtra and the play-off matches in Ahmedabad. The report claimed that during a meeting of BCCI officials on January 27, it was decided that IPL 2022 will be held in India. If the situation worsens due to Kovid-19 in the country, then the tournament will be shifted to the UAE like the last few seasons.
While the league matches of IPL season 2022 will be organized at Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, DY Patil Stadium and Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, playoff matches can be organized at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. At the same time, according to the source, if the situation of Kovid improves, then the state government can allow 25 percent of the spectators to come to the stadium. Let us tell you that this time 10 teams will participate and the mega auction for IPL 2022 will be organized on 12th and 13th February.
