The mega auction is to be held on February 12 and 13 before the Indian Premier League 2022 (IPL 2022). This year two new teams will be seen playing Ahmedabad and Lucknow. So this session will be very exciting. Meanwhile, many big names in international cricket have decided not to play the world’s most popular franchise cricket this year. These include names like Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Joe Root and Mitchell Starc. He has not given his name in the mega auction.
Root had earlier announced that he would have to give up the IPL for England and Test cricket, but the absence of Stokes, Chris Gayle, Archer and Starc is surprising. More than 1200 players have been named in the initial list shared for the auction with IPL franchises on Friday night (January 22).
Big names of international cricket to be available:
As per reports Pat Cummins (Australia, base price Rs 2 crore), David Warner (Aus, Rs 2 crore), Steve Smith (Aus, Rs 2 crore), Quinton de Kock (South Africa, Rs 2 crore), Faf du Plessis (South Africa, Rs 2 crore) and Mark Wood (England, Rs 2 crore). Fast bowler Wood was not in last year’s auction.
List of some big names of Indian cricket:
The list includes some of the biggest names in Indian cricket. These include Ravichandran Ashwin, Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, Ishan Kishan, Suresh Raina, Devdutt Padikkal and Harshal Patel. Apart from this, Dinesh Karthik, Bhuneshwar Kumar, Ambati Rayudu, Krunal Pandya, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Robin Uthappa and Shardul Thakur are also there. All of them have a base price of Rs 2 crore.
name of fast bowlers of south africa:
South African pacers Kagiso Rabada (Rs 2 crore) and Lungi Ngidi (Rs 50 lakh) and Marco Jensen (Rs 50 lakh) have also made their name in the auction. The Mega Auction will be held in Bangalore. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) did not mention the date and venue of the auction in the mail.
Another big name missing from the list:
Dwayne Bravo (Rs 2 crore) has also given his name as per a Cricbuzz report, but another big name missing from the list is Chris Gayle. Gayle has been a part of IPL since its inception but the West Indies legend is surely nearing the end of his international career. This is also seen in batting.
896 Indian players and 318 foreign players:
Of the 1,214 names in the auction list, 896 are Indian players and 318 are foreign players. The list includes 270 capped, 903 uncapped and 41 players from allied countries like Nepal, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Scotland and Netherlands. There are also 14 players from America.
Teams can consist of up to 25 players.
Each franchise can include a maximum of 25 players in its team. In such a situation, 217 players will be bought in the auction. Of these, up to 70 can be foreign players. However, not all teams will buy 25 players. In such a situation, there is a possibility that at least around 200 players will be bought.
