The dates for the mega auction for IPL 2022 have been announced. The IPL chairman announced this along with two new franchises will be given two weeks to sign players before this auction.
Indian Premier League chairman Brijesh Patel has confirmed that the mega auction for IPL 2022 will be held on February 12 and 13. This time it will be organized in Bangalore. At the same time, the two new franchises, Ahmedabad and Lucknow, which have been included in the IPL, will be given two weeks to sign the players before the mega auction. A formal letter in this regard will be sent to both the franchisees in the next day or two.
Brijesh Patel revealed that Vivo will no longer be the title sponsor of the IPL, and Tata will replace him. Patel also said that the IPL Governing Council has approved Vivo’s exit request. He said that Vivo is out and Tata will be the title sponsor. Vivo had requested to exit the IPL sponsorship deal and the GC has approved it. Whereas BCCI will earn a similar fee from the Tata company for the title rights.
In addition, the acquisition of Ahmedabad franchise by CVC Capitals has been approved by the IPL Governing Council and a letter of intent will be issued by the BCCI. Brijesh Patel said that the Governing Council has approved the CVC acquisition of the Ahmedabad team and we will issue the LOI today (January 11).
He further added that Tata will be the title sponsor of the Indian T20 League for the 15th and 16th editions of the tournament. Also, another development is that due to rising COVID-19 cases in India, BCCI is looking at hosting the entire tournament in a single state, Maharashtra.
