Team winner Prediction:
Key Points:
- Rajasthan Royals had almost everything going for them in the first match and should be brimming with confidence coming into this match
- The likes of Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin should enjoy bowling in non-wet conditions and will be difficult to deal with
- Mumbai Indians are a little too over-reliant on Jasprit Bumrah to do the bulk of the work as far as the pace bowling department is concerned
MI vs RR Analysis:
Mumbai India started their 2022 IPL campaign with a loss, but they will not be in trouble for now. After all, they are known to have a slow start and are still in familiar territory. Having said that, they will want to get off the mark as soon as possible and take advantage of any opportunity that comes their way.
Mumbai Indians will take on their arch-rivals Rajasthan Royals in the next leg of the tournament. The two sides have had great matches at times and we don’t expect anything different this time around. Mumbai Indians have a good history and a strong leadership group, Rajasthan Royals have the pace and a lineup that leaves the class. It is believed that the confrontation between the two sides will be no less than a face-to-face encounter.

Pitch and Weather Conditions:
The conditions in Mumbai are excellent for cricket. The weather is a bit humid but there is no rain expected. The pitch is going to be excellent for batting with a good amount of bounce and carry. Chasing is a massive advantage as the dew makes the ball come on better and also makes it difficult for the bowlers to grip the ball.

Mumbai Indians (MI):
Keeping everything aside, the biggest news for Mumbai Indians in the upcoming match will be the return of Suryakumar Yadav, who has been their most dependable batsman in recent years. His comeback will immediately bridge the most important gap that Mumbai Indians had uncovered in the first match.
Mumbai Indians had a good start against the Capitals, but they could not take advantage of the rhythm of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. With two youngsters in the form of Anmolpreet Singh and Tilak Verma, Mumbai’s batting unit looked a bit fragile in the middle. He ended his innings with a flourish and reached a commanding total of 177, probably a good dozen runs less than where he should have been after the start. With Yadav coming in, their batting will look good with the available firepower down the order.
It is bowling that has led the torch for so long. Bowlers like Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah combined bowled the best, but with Boult not available, Mumbai Indians found it a bit difficult in the previous match both in starts and deaths. The fact that Jasprit Bumrah was out of the way did not help Mumbai either.
Mumbai Indians still won’t be worried despite their poor performance in the last match. There was a lot of positivity for him right from the first match with Murugan Ashwin’s spell being the main attraction. He was easily the stand-out for them in the previous match and was certainly going to enjoy bowling without dew in a day’s play.
On paper, Mumbai Indians look well settled with some exceptional firepower available with the bat. They have Daniel Sams and Tim David both the number seven hard-hitters available who are capable of winning matches on their own.
With the ball, however, they were very cheap and they would need to be careful with it. Players like Tymal Mills, Basil Thampi and Daniel Sams can be expensive at times and it will be interesting to see how Rohit Sharma wins. Despite being in the driving seat, the bowlers failed to close the final game and would need to do better against a more powerful batting unit. If they can do that and the batting unit plays to its potential, then Mumbai Indians will find it very difficult to get over it.
Likely XI: Rohit Sharma (capt), Ishan Kishan (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Verma, Kieron Pollard, Tim David, Daniel Sams, Murugan Ashwin, Tymal Mills, Jasprit Bumrah, Basil Thampi.

Rajasthan Royals (RR):
Rajasthan Royals looked a bit behind on the second day of the auction, but the situation was quite the opposite when they took the field. The auction saw some surprising selections, but his auction strategy looked stellar after he displayed his approach and strategy in their opening game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
It is still early days but Rajasthan Royals are looking to reclaim the top spot of the table. Not only did he win his first match, but he did so medically as well. From beginning to end, almost everything was coming in the way of the royals. Perhaps the only thing that didn’t go well for him was Nathan Coulter-Nile scoring a lot of runs in his three overs.
The Royals’ signing with Devdutt Padikkal was particularly interesting, especially as the Royals had a lot of Padikkal as a designated opener. However, the way he batted on all fours was commendable and the Royals want him to continue to do so. Sanju Samson, Shimron Hetmyer, Devdutt Padikkal and Jos Buttler all looked in fine form with the bat and their aggregate was ample proof of their ability.
In bowling too, Rajasthan Royals have covered all their bases to a great extent. The opening pair of Trent Boult and the famous Krishna looked deadly on a surface that had a little extra bounce and pace. With Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravi Ashwin bowling in the middle overs, it will be difficult for the Royals to tackle it properly. With Trent Boult being the only seasoned campaigner his death bowling is looking a bit shaky.
Overall, Rajasthan Royals not only have the pace that they are going for, they have an exceptionally balanced side to maintain that momentum. Arguably, they only have to take care of their death bowling and if they can take care of it, they will be a very formidable opponent not only in the upcoming match but also in the coming matches.
Likely XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson (Captain, Wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, Ravichandran Ashwin, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Yuzvendra Chahal, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna.
