IPL 2022 Retentions: Before the 15th season of the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL, the information about the players retained by the eight franchises has come to the fore. Retention of IPL 2022 has been announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The mega auction will be held before next year’s IPL and in such a situation, the current eight teams got a chance to retain a maximum of four players (maximum 3 Indians and maximum 2 foreign players). After a few days, the remaining two new teams will get a chance to add maximum 3-3 players with them.
The 8 teams of the current IPL have retained 27 players, including 8 foreign players. At the same time, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders have retained 4 players each. 3-3 players have been retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. At the same time, only two players have been retained by Punjab Kings. Not only this, four uncapped Indian players have also been retained. Two players are part of Sunrisers Hyderabad (Abdul Samad and Umran Malik), while one player is part of Rajasthan Royals (Yashasvi Jaiswal) and one player is part of Punjab Kings (Arshdeep Singh).

Rajasthan Royals retained 3 players:
Rajasthan Royals, which won the inaugural season of IPL, retained three players, two Indians and one foreign player. Rajasthan Royals have retained Sanju Samson, who captained the team in IPL 2021, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler. The Rajasthan franchise has retained Sanju Samson for Rs 14 crore, Jos Buttler for Rs 10 crore and Yashasvi Jaiswal for Rs 4 crore.
KKR also retained 4 players:
Kolkata Knight Riders i.e. KKR has retained four players before IPL 2022, in which two players are Indians and only two players are foreigners. Kolkata Knight Riders have retained Varun Chakraborty, Venkatesh Iyer, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine. KKR has retained Russell for 12 crores, Varun Chakraborty for 8 crores, Venkatesh for 8 crores and Sunil Narine for 6 crores.
Delhi Capitals has retained 4 players:
Delhi Capitals, which has been performing well for the last few years, has retained four players, which includes three Indians and one foreign player. The Delhi Capitals franchise has retained Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw and Enrique Norkhia. Delhi Capitals has retained Rishabh Pant for Rs 16 crore, Axar Patel for Rs 9 crore, Prithvi Shaw for Rs 7.5 crore and Enrique Norkhia for Rs 6.5 crore.
Chennai Super Kings retained 4 players:
Chennai Super Kings has retained four players, which includes three Indians and one foreign player. CSK have retained captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Rituraj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali. However, Ravindra Jadeja has been retained for Rs 16 crore, MS Dhoni for Rs 12 crore, Moeen Ali for Rs 8 crore and Rituraj Gaikwad for Rs 6 crore.
Sunrisers Hyderabad retained 3 players:
Sunrisers Hyderabad, who won the IPL title once under the captaincy of David Warner, has retained three players, including one foreign and two Indian players. Kane Williamson is part of the team as an overseas player, while the other two players are uncapped Abdul Samad and Umran Malik. SRH has retained Williamson for Rs 14 crore and Umran Malik and Abdul Samad for Rs 4 crore each.
Punjab Kings retained 2 players:
Punjab Kings, a team that never won IPL, has retained only two players and both players are Indian. Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh have been retained by the Punjab team. Mayank Agarwal has been retained by the Punjab franchise for Rs 12 crore and Arshdeep Singh for Rs 4 crore. Captain KL Rahul will no longer be a part of the team.
Mumbai Indians retained 4 players:
Five-time IPL winning team Mumbai Indians has retained four players, including three Indians and one foreign player. Mumbai have retained Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard. Mumbai has retained captain Rohit Sharma for 16 crores, Bumrah for 12 crores, Suriya for 8 crores and Pollard for 6 crores.
Royal Challengers Bangalore retained 3 players:
Royal Challengers Bangalore ie RCB franchise has retained three players, which includes two Indians and one foreign player. RCB have retained Virat Kohli, Mohammad Siraj and Glenn Maxwell. RCB has added Virat Kohli for Rs 15 crore, Maxwell for 11 crore and Siraj for 7 crore.
