Before the next season of the Indian Premier League, all the franchise teams have to participate in the mega auction. A total of 10 teams will participate in this tournament to be held in 2022. Out of this, 2 teams have been included while there are 8 teams that are already playing. All the teams that have been a part of the tournament have been given the option to retain any of their four players. Delhi Capitals has announced the names of those four players. The names of all the retained players of the team will be announced on November 30.
The Delhi team, which has shown a bang in the last two consecutive seasons, has decided to retain its four important players, including captain Rishabh Pant, with the team. Pant was given the captaincy in the 14th season of the IPL after regular captain Shreyas Iyer was ruled out due to injury. Even after his return in the second leg of the tournament, Pant was retained as the captain by the franchise team management.
Apart from captain Pant, the four players who have been retained by the team are opener Prithvi Shaw, all-rounder Axar Patel and South African fast bowler Anrich Narkhia. This means that Iyer, veteran opener Shikhar Dhawan, spinner R Ashwin and even South African pacer Kagiso Rabada were released by the team to go up for auction.
