Before the new season of the Indian Premier League, all the franchise teams have started strengthening themselves. The team made changes in the coaching staff on Thursday, the information of which came to light. The former West Indies captain and veteran batsman has been made batting consultant by SRH, while it was also decided to give a big responsibility to the former South African fast bowler.
Changes have been made in the coaching team of Sunrisers Hyderabad. On Thursday, the name of the team’s head coach, assistant coach, batting coach, fast bowling coach was announced. Windies legend Lara, who till now used to be in the commentary box during IPL, will join the team. In order to give better direction to the team which has failed to score big scores in the last several consecutive seasons, this stalwart has been added to the team. South African legend Steyn has been made a part of the team’s coaching staff as a bowling coach.
The mentor of the team is former Indian legend VVS Laxman. The head coach will be played by former Australian cricketer Tom Moody. It is worth noting that in 2021, Trevor Wellis of Australia had announced to leave this post. Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan is already present with the team as spin bowling coach. Now the team has also decided to include the fast bowling coach in the team’s coaching staff. Simon Katich, who plays the coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore, has been made the assistant coach of the team.
Sunrisers team decided to retain captain Kane Williamson, pacer Umran Malik and all-rounder Abdul Samad ahead of the mega auction ahead of the new IPL season. Big players like David Warner, Rashid Khan and Australian wicketkeeper Jani Bairstow were released by the team.
