Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been known for their consistency and impressive record in the Indian Premier League (IPL) over the years. CSK are one of the most successful franchises in the history of the cash-rich league and a lot of credit goes to their star captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Wicket-keeper batsman Dhoni has been the captain of the ‘Yellow Army’ since the tournament’s inception in 2008 and has won three trophies for the team.
However, with Mahendra Singh Dhoni already retired from international cricket, it cannot come as a surprise that the Ranchi-born superstar may decide to retire from franchise cricket soon. However, he can be seen playing in the IPL till 2022. If Dhoni also retires from league cricket, then who will become the captain of Chennai Super Kings i.e. CSK is the biggest question, but one cricketer has shown interest in it.
Indeed, in an interesting social media exchange, India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has shown his interest to lead Chennai Super Kings after Dhoni. Responding to a query by a CSK fan page on who should lead CSK after Dhoni’s retirement, Jaddu made an indirect suggestion and wrote number 8, which is the number on his jersey. However, soon Jadeja deleted his tweet.
Ravindra Jadeja has been a valuable asset to the three-time champion. The all-rounder has so far scored 2290 runs in 191 matches and has taken 120 wickets. He is at the sixth position in the list of most wickets taken by spinners in the Indian Premier League. Overall, the left-handed batsman is the 10th highest wicket-taker in IPL. He has also taken 76 catches in T20 tournaments. Jadeja is a proper all-rounder, who is also the captain material.
