The Marylebone Cricket Club ie MCC, the cricket-related body making body, has made changes in the rules related to cricket. Under the new rule, putting saliva on the ball has been banned while Mankading will be considered as an official run out.

The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), the rules-making body related to cricket, has made important changes in the rules of cricket. Changes in these rules have been made for the betterment of cricket, which will be implemented from 1 October 2022. Talking about the major rules changed by MCC, now Mankading will now be considered as official run out. Apart from this, putting saliva on the ball has also been banned.

Let us tell you that in view of the corona epidemic, the rules related to saliva were imposed, which have now been implemented forever. Apart from this, amendments have also been made in the rules related to dead hair, wide hair and replacement. Let us understand the changed rules in detail.

Replacement rule-

Under this, the replaced player will be brought in the same form, that means if there is a bowler, then there is a bowler and a batsman instead of a batsman. If that player has batted in that innings, then his replacement will not be able to do so.

Mankading rules no longer against the spirit of sports-

There is controversy about this rule every day. Even in IPL 2019, when Ravichandran Ashwin had Mankad Jas Butler, cricket experts questioned Ashwin’s sportsmanship. But now this rule will now be considered as official run out. Therefore, it can be expected that now there will be no dispute regarding this rule.

Law 41.3 – No saliva

MCC’s research found that this had little or no impact on the amount of swing the bowlers were getting.

The new Laws will not permit the use of saliva on the ball, which also removes any grey areas of fielders eating sugary sweets to alter their saliva. pic.twitter.com/QFjxoe6l8A

Rules for applying saliva to the ball by bowlers-

This rule was made in view of the Corona epidemic, but it was found in so many days that it does not make any difference in the swing of the bowlers, so this rule has been implemented forever.

Rules for taking strike by new batter after catch out-

A major change has also been made in this rule. Under the new rule, if a batsman is caught out, then the new batsman who comes will take the strike until the over is over. Earlier it used to happen that if the batsmen during the catch crossed each other in an attempt to take a run, then the new batsman went to the non-striker. This rule was considered against the bowlers. After the change, it will give relief to the bowlers.

Changes in the rules related to dead Ball-

Changes have also been made in the rules regarding dead children. Under the new rule, if any outdoor activity such as any person or animal enters the field or in any other way obstructs the game, it will be declared as dead ball.

Law 22.1 – Judging a Wide

Law 22.1 has been amended so that a Wide will apply to where the batter is standing, where the striker has stood at any point since the bowler began their run up, and which would also have passed wide of the striker in a normal batting position. pic.twitter.com/lwEjCxF4d4

Changes in the rules regarding the decision of wide ball-

With the advent of T20 cricket, it is often seen that the batters chase the ball by rotating at a 360 degree angle and in such a situation if the bowler throws the ball away from the batter to defend himself, he is given wide. But now it will not happen. If the batter is chasing the ball and is able to play it, then it will not be given wide. This new rule will also give relief to the bowlers.

Laws 27.4 & 28.6 – Unfair movement by the fielding side

Until now, any member of the fielding side who moved unfairly, was punished only with a ‘Dead ball’ – potentially cancelling a perfectly good shot by the batter.

It will now see the batting side awarded 5 Penalty runs. pic.twitter.com/UJA1GEZZWt

Rules regarding unnecessary movement of the fielder-

Earlier only dead hair was given in case of unnecessary movement by the fielding side. But under the new rule, the batting team will be given 5 runs as penalty.

After the release of these new rules by the MCC, manager Fraser Stewart said that after the 2017 Code of Law, there were many positive changes in cricket. Some minor changes were tried from the 2019 code but after the implementation of the 2022 code, many major changes will be seen in cricket.
