Talented Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer is now fully match fit and has been cleared by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to return to competitive action. After the approval from the NCA, he will now be seen in the 14th season of the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL, which is starting again in the UAE from September 19. Shreyas Iyer will rejoin the Delhi Capitals team and will captain the team for the remaining season of IPL 2021.
Shreyas Iyer had reached the final of IPL 2020 for the first time by Delhi’s team, but he suffered an injury before the 2021 season and in such a situation, Rishabh Pant was given the responsibility of captaincy. However, in early May 2021, the cases of Corona came in the bio-bubble of the IPL. In such a situation, the tournament had to be postponed and now the rest of the matches will be played in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Dubai in the UAE from 19 September.
26-year-old Shreyas Iyer, who has played 22 ODIs and 29 T20 Internationals for India, was injured during the ODI against England in Pune on 23 March. His shoulder was dislocated and he had to undergo a surgery in the United Kingdom, from which he has now recovered. He has even proved his fitness at the NCA and has been proved match fit for competitive cricket.
“Yes, the NCA has issued a fit certificate to Shreyas Iyer. He was at the NCA in Bengaluru for a week and his final assessment was done a few days back. Based on all medical and physical parameters. But now he is ready to play the match. It could not have been at a better time with India’s T20 World Cup campaign in two months’ time.”
