The Test squad for the Indian cricket team’s tour of South Africa has been announced. A decision was taken to remove Ajinkya Rahane, who was in poor form, as the captain of the team. Now this responsibility will be handled by Rohit Sharma, who has been made the captain of the ODI and T20 team. An 18-member squad has been announced to go on the tour.
The BCCI on Thursday announced the 18-man Test squad for South Africa. Four standby players will also accompany the team. Rohit, who became the captain of T20 and ODI, will now be the vice-captain of the Test team. He captained the Test team to Ajinkya Rahane in the first match of the Test series. Virat was rested for this match.
Apart from this, spinner Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and batsman Shubman Gill have not been included due to injury. Hanuma Vihari, who was out of the Test series against New Zealand, is back. Fast bowler Ishant Sharma is also intact in the team.
