CSA has announced its team for the 3 match Test series against India starting 26 December. The 21-member team has been selected by the board for the Test series.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced its team for the three-match Test series against India to be played under the ICC World Test Championship from 26 December. Cricket South Africa has picked a strong 21-man squad that will take on India in a three-Test series from 26 December to 15 January 2022. The series is part of a new cycle of ICC World Tests, which will be held at SuperSport Park, Imperial Wanderers and Six Gun Grill Newlands.
The national selection panel has gone with the same core group which had successfully toured West Indies in June this year. Three more players have been included in this team. Proteas fans will be delighted to see the return of big names like Kagiso Rabada, Quinton Dikac and Enrique Norkhia. Apart from this, Duane Olivier has again returned to the Test team. He played the last match in the year 2019. Olivier had shown a great game in domestic cricket and took 28 wickets in his name. That’s why he made a comeback.
Glenton Sturman and Prenelan Subrian also made their comebacks, while Sisanda Magala and Ryan Rickelton found their way into the Test squad for the first time. The captain of this team will be Dean Elgar. Elgar has been the captain of the team since Quinton de Kock stepped down, while Faf du Plessis was the team captain for a long time before him.
South Africa’s test team is as follows:
Dean Elgar (capt), Temba Bavuma (vice-captain), Quinton de Kock (wk), Aidan Markram, Viaan Mulder, Kagiso Rabada, Sarel Irvi, Beuran Hendrix, George Linde, Keshav Maharaj, Lungi Ngidi, Enrique Norkhia, Keegan Pietersen, Rasi Van Der Dusen, Kyle Varini, Marco Janssen, Glenton Sterman, Prenellen Subrian, Sisanda Magala, Payne Richelton and Duane Olivier.
