The schedule for the three-match ODI series and three-match T20I series between India and Sri Lanka has been confirmed. Host broadcaster Sony Network tweeted the full schedule of the series on Monday. The three ODIs will be played on July 13, 16 and 18. While the T20 series will start from July 21 and the next two matches will be played on July 23 and 25. All the matches will be played at the same ground at Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
World Test Championship Final (WTC Final) Players who went to play Test series against England will not be part of Sri Lanka’s series. That is, players like Team India’s regular captain Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant will not be seen playing in this series. All of them are currently in England. The team will play the World Test Championship final in New Zealand from June 18. This will be followed by a five-match Test series from the hosts in August-September.
Former India captain and currently the National Cricket Academy (NCA) chief Rahul Dravid will coach the Indian team on the tour of Sri Lanka. Earlier, during the tour of England in 2014, he had worked as the batting consultant of the team. Talking to news agency ANI, a BCCI official privy to the developments confirmed that the NCA head coach will be on the tour. Because the trio of Ravi Shastri, Bharat Arun and Vikram Rathor will be in England with the Test team. He said that the coaching staff of Team India will be in England. In such a situation, it would be better if Dravid guides the young team. He has already worked with young players.
Dravid has worked with the Under-19s as well as the India ‘A’ team before taking over as the head of the NCA in 2019. He has been instrumental in building up excellent bench strength for the national team over the years. In 2015, he captained the Under-19 and ‘A’ teams.
