- India has an excellent mix of experience and youth in its squad
- Sri Lanka’s ODI quality has diminished very much and it has lost 7 out of the 8 ODI’s it has played this year
- India’s bench strength is fantastic and even its reserve set of players are world-class
Sri Lanka vs India (SLvMI): The 1st ODI match of India tour of Sri Lanka will be played between these two teams, The match will begin on 18 July 2021 at 03:00 pm IST.
Sri Lanka and India will play against each other in a white-ball series of three ODIs and three T20 Internationals. It is an interesting series as India has sent in its next generation of players who have already excelled in white-ball cricket.
No other team is playing as few matches as India in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup and this match will be crucial in closing some of the positions that are yet to be filled in the team. Sri Lanka is also going to take this series very seriously. It is on a terrible losing streak and needs to find some kind of form ahead of the T20 World Cup.
The matches in the ODI format are first and they require a different kind of skill altogether. Will the inexperienced youngsters of India be able to beat the Sri Lankan team at home? We think there will be some great betting opportunities that can be taken advantage of and we are here to help you discover some of them.
The days when Sri Lanka and India used to play against each other regularly have passed and this is the first time that they will be playing a bilateral series against each other since 2017. There were eight ODI’s played between these two teams that year in successive bilateral series and Indian won 7 out of them.
All five matches that Sri Lanka hosted in Sri Lanka, it lost. That was not a full-strength team that Lanka was up against either.
This year (2021), Sri Lanka has played 8 ODI’s against West Indies, Bangladesh, and England. It has lost all those three series and won one single match in total. That is an embarrassing record that does not bode well for Sri Lanka ahead of this series.
India is playing its ODI team minus the players that had to travel to England for the Test Series. This has meant that a number of youngsters are going to get the chance to make a name for themselves. Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, and Hardik Pandya are three experienced players of the team and will lead the way.
Match details:
Date: July 18, 2021 (Sunday).
Time: 03:00 PM (IST)
Venue: R.Premadasa stadium, colombo
Pitch and Weather Conditions:
There has been some rain around but the forecast for the first match is pretty good. A few clouds will hover around but we should be able to get a full 50 overs a side contest without any trouble. The pitch at the Premadasa is as flat as they come. The bowlers will have to work hard and the spinners will be the most effective way of picking up wickets.
Scores of around 300 should be achieved quite easily considering the tempo at which batsmen bat these days.
SL vs IND Probably XI:
SL:
Dasun Shanaka is back as captain and will need to find his best batsman very soon. Avishka Fernando, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Pathum Nissanka, and Dhananjay De Silva are likely to feature in the playing eleven. Dasun Shanaka might elevate his own position in the playing eleven as well.
With players like Isuru Udana and Wanindu Hasaranga in the lineup, there is no doubt that the Sri Lankan batting has a lot of depth. Whether it actually matters in the end, is something we have to see.
The bowling lineup for Sri Lanka is likely to include Dushmanth Chameera, Wanindu Hasaranga, Isuru Udana, and perhaps Lakshan Sandakan. Out of all of these, Chameera has been the most successful in recent matches and is perhaps the best choice for the Top wicket-taker Sri Lanka betting market.
Likely XI: Avishka Fernando, Minod Bhanuka (wk), Patthum Nissanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dasun Shanaka, Chamika Karunaratne, Akila Dhananjaya, Dushmantha Chameera, Lakshan Sandakan
IND:
Dhawan is an excellent pick to score a lot of runs. You can look at Over/Under markets for his personal score or To Score a 50. We think Prithvi Shaw is going to get a chance to open the batting with Devdutt Padikkal at number three and then Suryakumar Yadav at number four.
Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Nitish Rana are all top-order players as well so India could have no op[tion but to play a few players out of position.
Manish Pandey is in the team and has a lot of experience batting at number 5 in the past.
Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya should both find a place in the playing eleven giving India a lot of depth and flexibility. It is expected that Hardik Pandya is going to bowl regularly in this series.
Deepak Chahar, Navdeep Saini, and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar are almost certain to play while the toss-up for the remaining slot is going to be between Yuzvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahar, Kuldeep Yadav, and Varun Chakravarthy.
Likely XI: Shikhar Dhawan (c), Prithvi Shaw, Manish Pandey, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Chetan Sakariya, Yuzvendra Chahal
