- India has a stronger and more powerful batting lineup
- Sri Lanka’s bowling is terrible and its captaincy left a lot to be desired as well
- India’s bowling has not been great in this series but its spinners are still able to get the job done against the Sri Lanka batsmen
Sri Lanka vs India (SLvIND): The 3rd ODI match of India tour of Sri Lanka will be played between these two teams, The match will begin on 23 July 2021 at 03:00 pm IST.
Sri Lanka came within inches of winning its previous match against India but that was not to be. Deepak Chahar scored 69 not out (his previous best was 12) to lead India home from a very difficult position. It was a match that went right down to the wire and showed that you cannot take India’s victory for granted.
Matches like these that swing from one way to another are the ones where there are plenty of betting opportunities on offer. We hope you took advantage in the second match and will now look for the best bets available for the third one as well.
We saw a much-improved batting performance from Sri Lanka in the previous match but there were still a lot of runs left on the table. Sri lanka batsmen got starts but were then unable to convert them into big scores.
Five batsmen went past 30 but only two of them were able to convert that into a fifty plus score.
The boundary counts for the second match were also much higher as Sri Lanka hit 24 fours as compared to just 14 in the first match. Surprisingly, there was only one six hit in the second match.
India may be up 2-0 in this series but we don’t think it has been particularly impressive, particularly with the ball. The fast bowlers have lacked pace and the spinners have been floaty half-volleys way too often. The only reason that India has been able to get away with this kind of bowling in this series is because Sri Lanka’s batting lacks the discipline needed to take advantage.
We would not advise betting on either Bhuvaneshwar Kumar or Deepak Chahar for this match.
Match details:
Date: July 23, 2021 (Friday).
Time: 03:00 PM (IST)
Venue: R.Premadasa stadium, colombo
Pitch and Weather Conditions:
There is some rain predicted in Colombo on match day and we could have a number of stoppages. The hope is for a result to be achieved but there is a small possibility that the match is going to be rained-out.
The pitch has been excellent for batting so far and that is not going to change. There is no pace for the bowlers to work with and the spinners have to work hard as well.
Scores of around 300 should be achieved easily if a full 50 over game is possible.
SL vs IND Probably XI:
SL:
Sri Lanka’s batting has a lot to improve and we think it could easily post a 300 plus total if it plays to potential. Being a bit smarter against the Indian spinners is going to be the key, though.
While Sri Lanka’s batting was better, its bowling was not. Wanindu Hasaranga was the only bowler that seemed to have some control over the Indian batting. He took three wickets and gave away just 37 runs in his ten overs. His bowling was so much better than the others that you can punt on him to pick up a wicket or even be the top Sri Lankan bowler in this match.
The lack of control and penetration from the bowlers were the reasons why Sri Lanka lost the previous match. There is no easy fix to that problem even if Sri Lanka does change a couple of players for this match.
Likely XI: Avishka Fernando, Minod Bhanuka (wk), Patthum Nissanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dasun Shanaka, Chamika Karunaratne, Akila Dhananjaya, Dushmantha Chameera, Lakshan Sandakan
IND:
Yuzvendra Chahal picked up three wickets and was the best of the bowlers. He is at his best when he is not being attacked relentlessly and seems to have the measure of this Sri Lankan batting unit. Not a bad option for the top bowler India betting market.
The real strength of India in this series has been its batting. Even when wickets kept falling in the second ODI, the run-rate was consistently high and so it allowed the lower-order to consolidate without coming under pressure.
Prithvi Shaw, Ishan Kishan, and Suryakumar Yadav are going to play their way and attack regardless of what happens. There were 31 fours hit by India in the second match, easily more than what Sri Lanka managed, and there is a great chance of that happening once more. The Most fours betting market is an easy option to recommend.
India may make a few changes for this match now that the series has been decided. Sanju Samson is fit and available once more so he could get a chance to bat up the order. Either way, India’s batting is much stronger than Sri Lanka and that is where it will get the biggest edge.
Likely XI: Shikhar Dhawan (c), Prithvi Shaw, Manish Pandey, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Deepak Chahar, Yuzvendra Chahal
