- India is going to be severely restricted because of the lack of players available for selection
- Sri Lanka’s batting is quite weak and could struggle against India
- While India’s batting lacks depth, it does have some terrific youngsters that can deliver when it matters
Sri Lanka vs India (SLvIND): The 3rd T20I match of India tour of Sri Lanka will be played between these two teams, The match will begin on 29 July 2021 at 08:00 pm IST.
Sri Lanka managed to win the second T20 against India, finally ending its winless streak of ten matches, and squared the series. We now go into a decider with India basically playing with its C team. India had chosen a young team to begin with but injuries and now COVID-19 forced quarantines have hamstrung India.
Is there a way that India can find enough depth in its lineup to be able to win against Sri Lanka? We think this third and final T20 is going to provide a lot of opportunities for the young Indians to be able to prove themselves. For bettors, knowledge and insight into these youngsters could bring about a lot of favorable betting opportunities indeed.
Let us try and explore some of these betting opportunities for the Sri Lanka vs India 3rd T20 2021 match.
Sri Lanka would have been relieved to win the previous match against India. It was up against a team with just five batsmen playing and even then it took the chase into the very last over. Still, a win is a win and that would have taken a lot of pressure off of their shoulders.
Now, to win the series, Sri Lanka would be targeting some good performances from its senior players. Avishka Fernando has not been able to convert his starts into anything significant but he does seem to be in good touch. Asalanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, and Minod Bhanuka are some of the other batsmen to watch out for.
Rahul Dravid said that they have eleven players available for this match and all of them were playing! India actually added five net bowlers to the squad before the match began, however, all of them are bowlers and so there is no one to reinforce the batting for the final match as well.
Match details:
Date: July 29, 2021 (Thursday).
Time: 08:00 PM (IST)
Venue: R.Premadasa stadium, colombo
Pitch and Weather Conditions:
The conditions for this match are expected to be nice and dry. We are going to get a complete match without any interruptions. The focus of both teams is going to be on the surface. It was slow and took a lot of turn during the previous match. We think a similar surface is likely for the final T20 since there is barely any time between matches.
A score of around 150 is going to be very tough to chase down on this surface.
SL vs IND Probably XI:
SL:
This Sri Lankan batting lineup is not very strong. Not a single player has hit a fifty in the T20 series. Only one batsman has hit more than one six (Asalanka), and only one batsman has a strike rate of over 150 (also Asalanka). The fact that Sri Lanka’s batting nearly crumbled against India while chasing down a small total shows that it is vulnerable going into the third match.
While the batting has been poor, Sri Lanka’s bowling has been quite good in the series. Wanindu Hasaranga has troubled the batsmen with his variations and Akila Danajaya also posed some difficult questions. The surface seems to be helping the spinners a lot and India has not proven itself very adept at facing these bowlers.
We would recommend looking at Dananjaya or Hasaranga to be the highest wicket-taker in the third T20 as well. These betting markets can be very rewarding because of the risk involved.
Likely XI: Avishka Fernando, Minod Bhanuka, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Dhananjaya de Silva, Ramesh Mendis, Dasun Shanaka, Wanidu Hasaranga, Chamika Karunaratne, Isuru Udana, PVD Chameera, Akila Dananjaya.
IND:
India essentially played with five batsmen. Shikhar Dhawan played well, Ruturaj Gaikwad got a start, and even Devdutt Padikkal was looking good before he got out. Unfortunately, Sanju Samson and Nitish Rana could not adapt to the slow spin-friendly conditions.
The odds available for Devdutt Padikkal to be the top scorer for India are excellent right now and we think that is a betting market worth exploring.
India’s lack of batting depth is going to prevent it from playing freely and that is a big disadvantage.
The bowlers did quite well all things considered. Varun Chakravarthy was the pick of the bowlers in our opinion and even though Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets, he never looked at his best. Rahul Chahar was good but Buvaneshwar Kumar and Chetan Sakariya were not as good as required.
Navdeep Saini was injured during the match and he will need to be replaced in the next match. We are going to see another debutant, possibly Ishan Porel, in the next match for India.
Likely XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devdutt Padikal, Sanju Samson, Nitish Rana, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Rahul Chahar, NA Saini, Chetan Sakariya, Varun Chakravarthy.
