Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli has not won any ICC event so far. Recently, Team India had to face defeat against New Zealand in the final of the World Test Championship. Former BCCI general manager and veteran wicketkeeper Saba Karim believes that now the sword is hanging on Kohli’s captaincy. The ICC T20 World Cup is going to be very important for the Indian captain.
Saba said, “The T20 World Cup is going to be organized at the end of this year which will be very important for the captaincy career of Virat Kohli. The captaincy pressure is increasing on Virat and he also knows this thing. He is aware that he has not won any ICC trophy so far. In such a situation, his goal will be that the Indian team wins the T20 World Cup title.
“If the Indian team wins this trophy, I think Kohli will take a sigh of relief. Maybe he will think about the situation and then decide for how long he wants to captain the team. He has been named among the big captains. But he is still away from the ICC title.
“World Championship is organized in all the three formats, different mindset is required in all three formats. Different tools and thinking are required. That is why I think that if same captain is in all formats. If so, then it becomes too much to expect from them. With each format you need different and fresh ideas so I think different captains should be considered.
