The ICC T20 World Cup 2021 concluded on 14 November in Dubai. The winner of this time has been the Australian team and in the meantime seven cities have been announced for the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia next year. Seven Australian cities have been selected as the hosts for the T20 World Cup 2022. This has been announced by the ICC. Apart from this, it has also been announced that the final match will be played at Melbourne Cricket Ground ie MCG.
Between the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, 8 teams have been announced to reach the Super 12, which includes the teams of Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Pakistan, New Zealand and South Africa. At the same time, teams like Sri Lanka and West Indies will get a chance to make it to the Super 12 through Round 1. Namibia, Scotland, Sri Lanka and West Indies will play the matches of Round 1. Four more teams are yet to be announced, who will take on these teams in Round 1.
A total of 45 matches will be played in Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney in the event, to be held from October 16 to November 13 next year. The final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 will be held on 13 November 2022 at the MCG. The semi-finals will be held at Sydney Cricket Ground and Adelaide Oval on 9 and 10 November respectively. All the matches will be played at night and there is also a possibility of a large number of spectators reaching all the matches.
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, England, India, Pakistan and South Africa, apart from T20 World Cup 2021 champions Australia and runners-up New Zealand, have qualified for the Super 12 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 as the next highest-ranked teams. Namibia, Scotland, Sri Lanka and West Indies will play in the first round. The four remaining places for next year’s T20 World Cup in Australia will be filled through qualifiers, culminating in two global qualifying tournaments, one in Oman in February and the other in Zimbabwe in June/July.
