Hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), this year’s 16-team T20 Men’s World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will begin on October 17, while the final match will be played on November 14. So far, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has not been officially told about shifting the T20 World Cup to the UAE, but in the circumstances, this World Cup is believed to be held in the UAE.
It is to be known that Dainik Jagran had already told in an issue published on June 5 that this year the T20 World Cup will be held in the UAE. According to the current plan, the first round of the T20 World Cup will be divided into two phases and will be played in UAE and Oman. In the first round, eight teams will play 12 matches in two groups of four teams each, of which the top two teams from each of the two groups (four teams in total) will qualify for the Super-12, and the top eight teams in the ranking will play Will be a part of Super-12.
Some matches of the first round will be played in UAE as well as Oman. 30 matches will be played in the Super-12 round, which will start from October 24. The teams included in the Super-12 will be divided into two groups of six teams each. The matches of the Super-12 round will be played at three UAE venues – Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. This will be followed by three playoff matches, including two semi-finals and a final. It is known that in view of the Corona crisis, the ICC had given time till June 28 to take a decision on hosting the T20 World Cup to be held this year, but the BCCI has decided to organize it in the UAE after seeing the situation.
