The Indian cricket team has to play in the 5-match Test series against England next month. Even before the start of this series, Team India has suffered a major setback. Young opener Shubman Gill has been ruled out of the entire series due to injury. Now Mayank Agarwal can be given a chance in place of Gill as an opener with Rohit Sharma.
According to the news of PTI, Indian team opener Shubman will now leave England tour and return to India. Gill has suffered a shin stress fracture and due to this, he can be away from the cricket field for at least two months. Although his injury is serious, but for the time being there will be no need for surgery. If reports are to be believed, he will be in rehab for the time being and he will be treated.
The team management in England has informed the BCCI about Gill being ruled out of the series due to injury. According to the news of PTI, the team management has requested to send the Sri Lankan tour opener Prithvi Shaw to England as a replacement for Gill, but its written application has not yet reached the chairman of the board. India has to play the first Test match against England from 4 August. On the other hand, Sri Lanka will play in a series of three ODIs and as many T20 matches between July 13 and July 25.
The first ODI will be played on July 13 while the second match of the series will be played on July 16. The last match of the ODI series is to be played on 18 July. At the same time, the T20 series will start from July 21. The second match of this limited overs series will be played on 23 July while the last match of the series and tour will be played on 25 July.
