The BCCI office-bearers feel that the way they were given lesser chances since the 2019 World Cup and were later dropped from the team, it is not right.
Regarding this, an official working in the BCCI had updated the officials on the internal situation of the team and the methods of taking decisions. In that meeting, one official suggested to make three captains separately in all three formats (T20, ODI and Test), while the other suggested to make separate captains in Test and limited overs formats (T20, ODI). But the third official said that it is not right to change the captaincy before the World Cup. We should wait till the World Cup to make any changes.
However, after that meeting, the Indian team did well on the tour of England and took a 2–1 lead in the five-match Test series. Even after this, BCCI has kept Dhoni as a mentor and told whom he has more faith in. If India is not able to win the fourth consecutive ICC trophy under the captaincy of Virat, then Rohit Sharma can be seen captaining in the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia next year. At the same time, Virat will continue as the captain of the Test as the team has done well in this format.
