After Australia’s Ashes series win, he and England players have come to the fore after drinking alcohol on the roof of a hotel in Hobart and creating a ruckus overnight. Due to this the police had to be called. A video of this incident has also gone viral. England’s assistant coach Graham Thorpe can be blamed after this matter comes to light.
According to a report, on Tuesday, the police, along with Australian players Nathan Lyon, Travis Head and Alex Carey, came out of the terrace of the Crowne Plaza hotel after complaining of noise to England team captain Joe Root and veteran fast bowler James Anderson. However, after the video of the case went viral on the internet media, it came to light.
Despite Thorpe’s refusal several times, the police were called for having a liquor party inside the hotel. Now in this case the assistant coach of England can be sacked. However, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has already apologized for the footage in which Root and Anderson are seen drinking with the Australian players.
“During Monday morning, members of the men’s teams of England and Australia drank beer together at the hotel team in Hobart. The hotel management had received a complaint of noise by a hotel guest and, as is common in Australia, the local police were present at the scene. When the hotel management and Tasmanian police asked them to leave, the players and management returned to their respective rooms. The ECB regrets any inconvenience caused to the guests. The ECB will investigate further. Till such time we will not comment further. An ECB spokesman said:
The ECB learned that Thorpe was behind the camera and circulated the video to the Internet media. Players from both England and Australia teams were staying at Crowne Plaza during the fifth Ashes Test at the Bellerive Oval, where they began the celebrations after the series.
